You’ve found your way to the page that Algy avoids like the proverbial plague! He’s not very good with detail - more of a ‘broad brush’ bear - tends to leave that kind of thing to either Uncle Rumps or Shorty.
But especially if you like to know the ins and outs, or are new to downloading things, then this page may be just up your alley!
Payments
You will see that we use either PayPal or Nochex to process your payment when you get to the stage of paying for your story. We do this because they are well known, well established companies with excellent reputations.
If you have already opened an account in our shop, you may also have noticed that we didn’t ask you for any details of your credit or debit card when you registered, and this was because we don’t need them. All payments to Furry Tales are handled by either PayPal or Nochex, and your financial details are strictly confidential between you and them.
It may appear that we are repeating ourselves with some of this information, and of course, we are! But we feel that it’s worthwhile to emphasise certain aspects, so that you can relax in the knowledge that on this site you are perfectly safe.
What to do with your downloaded file
When you go through the shop and eventually click on the link to download the story, what you get is called a zipped file. Choose where this file is to be saved; somewhere you can locate it again, possibly either on your desktop (if it’s not too cluttered), or perhaps you could create a folder specially for Alg & Bun stories (you could call it something like ‘Alg & Bun stories’, or even ‘Stories about Alg and Bun’, or perhaps .....), but I am getting a little sidetracked here.
When it has finished downloading to your own computer, go to where you told it to download to, and double click on the file name (it will be something like ‘the_treacle_mine.zip’), this will cause it to ask you where you would like the files extracted to - and then extract the files to the same place you chose for the zipped file - and you will see that you have both an MP3 file - where the furries speak in their own words as an audio file, and a PDF file where it's written as a story.
Double click on either of these file names, and your computer will probably know what program to use to make them work.
In the unlikely event that it doesn’t, you will need Windows Media Player - or any other equivalent media player that will play MP3 files - or indeed, move the sound file to an MP3 player, or burn it to a CD. For the written file, Adobe provide a free PDF reader, which can be found by going to http://www.adobe.com then clicking on the button labelled ‘Get Adobe Reader’, and then clicking on ‘Download’ on the following page.
